Sunday May 31st, 2026 – Get together-evening @Nikolaiviertel

The Nikolaiviertel is Berlin's oldest district and is located in the immediate vicinity of Alexanderplatz and the River Spree. At the heart of the district stands St. Nicholas' Church, which was first mentioned in the 13th century and around which medieval Berlin began to trade. The area was heavily damaged during the Second World War and later rebuilt in the 1980s to mark Berlin's 750th anniversary, blending historical charm with GDR-era urban planning. Today, the cobbled streets, gabled houses and views of the river promenade offer a picturesque contrast to the modern city that surrounds it.

For visitors, the Nikolaiviertel is also a gastronomic hotspot. Here you will find classic German restaurants serving hearty Berlin cuisine, as well as cafés and beer gardens with terraces on the Spree.

Please note that your consumption is not included in the conference fee.

Monday June 1st, 2026 – Welcome drinks and dinner @conference venue

After the first day full of new scientific insights, the participants are invited to stay on site for a cosy evening, providing the perfect setting for informal networking and exchanges with colleagues and friends. BfR's catering facilities will provide culinary delights throughout the evening.

Between the end of the last session and the start of the evening event—parallel to the general meeting of the Society for Mycotoxin Research—we would like to offer the opportunity to take part in approximately 1-hour tours of the BfR facilities on site. We plan to take small groups of approximately 20-30 people to visit, for example, the Alt-Marienfelde experimental farm (large animals) (5 min walk), or the aquaculture facility (fish), the German Centre for the Protection of Laboratory Animals (Bf3R), or our poisonous plant garden. When registering, please indicate which area you would like to visit, if any. The number of visitors is limited for animal welfare reasons.

Tuesday June 2nd, 2026 - Conference dinner and party @Pirates Berlin

After the last session on Tuesday afternoon, a bus transfer will take us directly to the event location. The journey will pass important Berlin landmarks such as the former Tempelhof Airport, the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, the Victory Column and the Brandenburg Gate, ending at the famous East Side Gallery. City guides will provide valuable information during the trip.

Participants are then invited to the conference dinner at the distinctive Pirates Berlin event location, where they can enjoy an evening with a fine buffet overlooking the Spree and the beautiful Oberbaum Bridge, hopefully outside in the balmy summer air.
